This will be an extra special mosaic because instead of starting with broken tiles or glass, we will make our own ceramic pieces to be used instead. This project will involve forming shapes from clay - either by hand or with help from cookie cutters or stencils. You'll learn to add texture and cover each piece with colorful glazes. Your pieces will be fired in the kiln twice (between classes) and you will get to experience unloading your own pieces from the cooled kiln. You’ll attach your fired pieces to a concrete paving stone base and finish it off with grout between the pieces. I will walk you through each of these steps involved.
All supplies are included.
Your finished mosaic can be used flat as a stepping stone, or upright (leaned against a wall or tree) as garden art and will last outdoors indefinitely. It will add color and character to your yard or would make a great gift.
During checkout, choose which shape of paving stone shape you prefer. (This is what the clay pieces will be cemented to). Rectangle, Square, or Irregular. (If by chance stores are out of a particular shape, I will substitute it with what they have).
