Clay: Beginning Handbuilding This is a 2-part class plus a pick up day For beginners who are new to ceramics Adult (14+) Wear a paint shirt or apron All materials included This is for anyone who hasn’t worked with clay before. You’ll have time to get the feel of the clay then learn the secret of connecting two pieces together so they won't separate during the drying and firing stages. You will practice by forming two or three functional or sculptural items up to 6" tall. Some functional ideas are a cactus planter, utensil or pen holder, trinket box, vase.... We will be using low fire clay and colorful glazes. Your pots will be fired twice (once after each class). Please note there is a two week span between the first and second class to allow clay to dry enough. Aug 6 - Construct the pots and apply underglazes. Aug 20 - Glaze the pots. Aug 26 - Pick up your finished pieces. (If this time isn’t convenient for you, we can arrange another pick-up time).
