Clay: Beginning Handbuilding This is a 2-part class (plus a pick-up time). This is for anyone who hasn’t worked with clay before and wants to learn the basics. You’ll be introduced to techniques that are the basis of handbuilding - pinch, coil, and slab. Learn to add texture to the clay, and when and how to connect pieces with the "smear" method or “score and slip.” After a demonstration, you will practice by making a small pinch pot with legs, a slab vessel, and a coil pot in any shape or size you'd like. These pots can be functional or sculptural, it’s up to you! We will be using low fire clay and colorful glazes. Your pots will be fired twice (once after each class). There is a two week span between the first and second to allow clay to dry enough before firing. For beginners who are new to ceramics Adult (14+) Wear a paint shirt or apron All materials are included
