Fused Glass Jewelry

Join us in creating jewelry from layers of glass that will be later fired in a kiln to fuse/melt the layers together.
 
Erin will introduce you to the properties of glass and the construction of jewelry. Learn about dichroic glass, stringers, dots and other embellishments. This class focuses on the creation of earrings and necklaces, but you are welcome to make other forms of jewelry also (see note below about findings).
 
You will have a variety of glass types and colors to choose from. Learn to cut them into shapes and assemble them in layers. From there, Erin will take them home, fire them in her glass kiln and add the metal findings. During class you will discuss a pick-up time – usually 7-10 days after the class.
 
All supplies are included. There will be a variety of glass types and colors to choose from including frit (small shards of glass), vitrigraph stringers (strings of glass pulled out of Erin’s home studio kiln) and a variety of other glass.
 
The nature of safety will also be discussed. Safety glasses will be provided.  
 
“Findings” are the metal connecting pieces in jewelry. Findings for earrings or necklaces are included in this workshop. (You’ll have the choice of a silver-plated snake chain or black cord for pendants. Earrings will be silver plated nickel-free findings or sterling silver is also available at $2.50 extra per pair). Findings for jewelry other than earrings and necklaces/pendants are not included. (Add them on your own later).
 
Each participant can make several completed jewelry pieces. Come join in the fun!
