This is an intermediate class for those with intermediate painting skills and who have completed a drawing perspective course. There will be a review of drawing perspectives, and introductions about each featured artist including information on their history, style and technique. This is a casual, exploratory class to gather with others to paint using these artists' techniques and styles to create your cityscapes.

 

You will choose to explore two to three of the following artists' art: Joaquin Sorolla (1863-1923), Cornelis Springer (1817-1891), Van Gogh (1853-1890), Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986), Claude Monet (1840-1926), Edward Hopper (1882-1967)

 

You'll go home with paintings that include two-dimensional space, one-point perspective, and two-point perspective representing the artists of your choice.

 

Supplies to bring:

Medium of your choice - watercolor or acrylic paints

Supplies you need with your medium (brushes, palettes, etc.).

3 papers or canvases, from postcard size up to 8"x10, suitable for your medium

12” – 24” ruler

Paint shirt/apron

(I will supply tracing paper, T-squares, drafting pencils)

 

Lila is an award winning watercolor artist, studied with David Smith at the Dayton Art Institute, formerly a member of the juried Dayton (OH) Society of Painters & Sculptors and studied pastels with Bonnie Zahn Griffith. Lila worked as an architectural draftsperson for 25 years.
