KIDS CLAY Handbuilding (no wheel) - Any skill level

This is our first time offering clay classes for kids ages 10-14 year old and we hope you'll join us! 
No experience is needed. This is a handbuilding class; we will not be using a pottery wheel. 
 
There are two sessions being offered.
 
Each session has two classes. The first class will be spent learning about clay and how to form it into shapes. (Then the pieces will be then left to dry for several days and then fired in the kiln). The second class will be spent decorating the fired pieces with glazes. (Then they'll get fired again). 
 
You'll learn:
- How to attach two pieces of clay together correctly, so that they won’t pop apart while drying. 
- Why some pieces explode in the kiln and how to lessen the chance of that happening to any of your pieces.
- Basic ways to form clay with slab, coil and pinch techniques.
- How to add textures to your clay pieces while forming.
-  To help load and unload your pieces in the kiln. 
 
You can take one session or both sessions. They are the same class although those who have already taken session 1 will have more freedom to make whatever they'd like in session 2.
