FUSED GLASS JEWELRY

Join Erin for a fun and creative introduction to fused glass jewelry! In this class, you’ll design and create unique pieces by layering glass, which will later be fired in a kiln to fuse the layers.
Erin will guide you through the basics of glass properties and jewelry construction. You’ll learn how to work with a variety of materials, including frit (crushed glass), vitrigraph stringers, dots, and other embellishments. While the class focuses on earrings and necklaces, you’re welcome to explore other jewelry ideas (see notes on findings below).
You’ll have access to a wide selection of glass colors and types, and you’ll learn how to cut, shape, and layer your designs. After class, Erin will fire your pieces in the kiln and attach the appropriate metal findings. Pickup is typically scheduled 7–10 days after class.
All basic supplies are included. Dichroic glass is not included in the class price but will be available for purchase from our retail store during class.
Safety
Please make sure to wear closed-toed shoes to this workshop. Working with glass requires proper safety precautions. Erin will review safe handling techniques at the start of class. Safety glasses are required and will be provided.
Findings (Jewelry Hardware)
Findings for earrings and necklaces are included. Pendant options include a silver-plated snake chain or black cord. Earrings will use silver-plated, nickel-free findings. Sterling silver earring findings are available for purchase during class. Findings for other types of jewelry are not included and can be added later if desired.
Optional Add-On:
You may add pre-cut glass shapes to your design. These are available for purchase at glassmaniastudios.com, and students receive a 15% discount for the class. You will be sent a coupon after you sign up for the class.
If you would like specific shapes, please place your order at least 5 days before class so they are ready for you. A limited selection of best-selling shapes will be available for purchase during class, but availability is not guaranteed—please check ahead of time if there are particular shapes you would like to use.
Each participant will create several finished jewelry pieces to take home.
