This class is for beginners and is open to anyone. In this class, Erin will teach you how to make glass suncatchers, which will brighten up any window, wall or easel in your home. They also make a great gift for that special someone.
You will make two 6”x6” suncatchers of your own design in class. (If desired, these 6x6 pieces can be cut in half or however you’d like). Your suncatchers will be made of a clear glass and you will add layers of colorful glass on top of it. Erin will take them home and fire them in her kiln, where all of the glass pieces will be fused together.
You can make any design you choose, from flowers to abstract. Erin will show you how to make flowers and other objects using small glass pieces.
You will learn how to cut the glass, prep the glass, and create your design. We will discuss the nature of glass and how to fuse it in a kiln. We will discuss classroom safety. You will be required to wear safety glasses while in the class (which will be supplied for you).
Everything you will need to create your suncatchers will be provided in class. There will be frit (small shards of glass), vitrigraph stringers (that Erin makes) and assorted transparent glass pieces.

After firing your suncatchers in her kiln, Erin will drill the holes and string the suncatchers for easy display. You may choose chain or coated wire for the hangers.
A pick up time for projects will be determined in class.
